ABEOKUTA - The shame of not producing a preferred successor, may have prevented the immediate past governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun from attending this year's eid-el-fitr prayer.

Senator Amosun had boasted during last year's eid-el-kabir prayer that, he would bring his successor to this year's eid prayer ground, hoping that his preferred governorship candidate ,Adekunle Akinlade would succeed him as the next governor.

But in the March 9 governorship election in the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress emerged winner and had since sworn-in as the fifth executive governor of the state.

When our reporter visited the eid prayer ground, Oke Lantoro in Abeokuta where the former governor usually performed his eid prayer annually, he was conspicuously missing at the prayer ground.

In fact, majority of political associates who usually prayed at the Oke-Lantoro prayer ground also absconded from this year's eid-el-fitr prayer.

The former governor had also told the crowd at his pull off party on May 28 held at Amphitheater, Abeokuta, that he shall meet them again at the eid prayer ground after returning from Saudi Arabia where he had gone to performed lesser hajj.

Scores of journalists, worshippers and political followers at the prayer ground were astonished with the absence of the Egba born politician and his associates.

Notable among the absentees at the prayer include the APM Director General Campaign Organization ,Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Ishola.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has joined Muslim faithful across the world to felicitate with Muslim duah on the successful completion of the compulsory Ramadan fasting and Eid el Fitri celebration.

Governor Abiodun who was represented by his top aide, Salisu Shuaib at the Lantoro prayer ground congratulated Muslim community in Ogun State on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

He said, the sacrifices made during the holy month of Ramadan should draw everyone closer to the Almighty God, enjoining them to imbibe the lessons lessons from the holy month of Ramadan, which include personal sacrifices and self denial.
