ASUP Holds Thanksgiving Session Over MAPOLY Restoration

Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji
ABEOKUTA - The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic chapter of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, (ASUP), will on Monday hold Praise and worship session in acknowledgement of returning MAPOLY to polytechnic status quo by the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The immediate past governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun had introduced a policy that replaced MAPOLY with Ogun Poly, Ipokia and created MAUSTECH, a development which crippled academic and social activities on campus for about 6months.

The changes by the ex-governor led to controversies and protests by both lecturers and students before he left office.

But Governor Abiodun while suspending the policy said his directive would remain until the committee determined the way forward for the new institutions.

ASUP however, said its received with gratitude the pronouncement to reinstate the polytechnic to its status quo ante and the return of academic activities on the campus.

The union in a press release jointly signed by its Chairman, Babatunde Osifalujo and Secretary, Tomisi Adegunle said "the union, ASUP, MAPOLY having received with gratitude, the pronouncement of the re-instatement of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to its status quo ante by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun Mfr, the Executive Governor of Ogun State and acknowledging the manifestations of the return of academic and social life on the campus hereby announce its decision to hold a praise and worship session on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the union secretariat".
