Ogun: Police Arrest Man For Stealing Two Month Old Baby

ABEOKUTA - The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 39year-old man, Olakunle Agbaje for stealing a two month old baby in Mowe Area of Obafemi Owode Local Government.

The arrest of the suspect followed a distress call received by the police in Mowe division headquarters that a woman, Marufu Taiwo of No 39, Adesan area of Mowe was sleeping in her room when the suspect who resides at no 13 Dennis street Arigbawonwo sneaked into her room and took the baby boy from her side.

According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was tiptoeing out of the room, when the mother of the child woke up and raised alarm consequent upon which distress call was made to the police. 

Oyeyemi said, on receiving the information, the DPO Mowe division, SP Marvis Jayeola quickly moved to the scene with his men where the suspect was promptly arrested.

He said, "On interrogation, the suspect who first claimed that he strayed into the woman's room unknowingly later started begging for mercy with the plea that he didn't know what pushed him to do what he did."

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.
