Otunba Daniel made this commendation at the occasion of Book Presentation and Platinum Recognition in commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Nigerian Tribune held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan on last week.
The former Governor was honoured alongside other distinguished Nigerians including Pa Reuben Fasoranti, General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), former Secretary to Oyo State Government; Chief Michael Keleosho, Group Managing Director of Odu’a Investment Company Limited; Mr. Adewale Raji as well as six notable financial institutions in the country.
In his response, Daniel thanked the management of the newspapers for recognising his progressive policies and legacies as Governor after nearly a decade of leaving office. This, he said, was a testimony that the organisation recognises and rewards merit and excellence.
The occasion was graced by eminent Nigerians including the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Afenifere chieftain; Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe, Chief Kola Daisi, Reverend (Mrs.) Omotola Oyediran, Ambassador (Dr.) Olatokunbo Dosumu; Chairman African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc, and representative of legal luninary, Chief Afe Babalola.
At the occasion, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Chief Ayo Adebanjo spoke extensively on the State of the nation especially on the issues of insecurity in the land and the hate speech bill calling on government at all levels to ensure good governance and find lasting solutions to stem the scourge of insecurity ravaging nearly all parts of the country.
