Four Die, 35 Injured In Ogun Multiple Road Crashes - FRSC

ABEOKUTA - Not less than four people lost their lives in a three separate road accidents in different part of the state on Friday, while about 35 people were seriously injured.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun state command, Commander Clement Oladele disclosed that no fewer than 57 people  were involved in the accidents that happened in different part of the state on Friday. 

Oladele who spoke through the route Commander, Florence Okpe in a statement made available to THE ENCOUNTER NEWS explained that 29 male adults and 22 female adults with six children were involved in the accidents. 

He explained that the accidents were due to excessive driving and violation of traffic rules.  

The Sector Commander in the statement said, “a total of three  road traffic crashes were  recorded yesterday 27 December 2019 across Ogun State.

“The first crash occurred at about 0710hrs  on the  Ore-Ijebu-Ode Expressway after the RCC Construction Company Yard. 

“A total of 22 persons were involved which  comprised 15 Male Adults, 04 Female Adults and 03 Children.

“Number injured were 13 (10 Male Adults and 03 Female Adults) One person was unfortunately killed, a Female Adult, 03 vehicles were involved with registration numbers  KJA 977 FD, a Honda Pilot SUV; AG L258 AP, a Toyota PICNIC and  FFN 73 LG, a Toyota HIACE Bus.

“The suspected cause of the road traffic crash were route violation, excessive speed and dangerous driving  on the part  of the Honda Pilot SUV who drove against traffic.

“The  injured victims were rescued to the State Hospital Ijebu Ode for medical attention while the corpse of the killed victim  was deposited at the same Hospital Morgue.

“The second crash occurred at about  1547hrs  on the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway around  Lufuape (AP TURNING POINT).

“A total of 17 persons were involved comprising 04 Male Adults; 10 Female Adults and 03 children. Number injured were 09 (06 Female Adults and 03 Male Adults). Unfortunately 03 deaths were recorded from the crash made up of 02 Female Adults and 01 Female Child. 

“The lone crash  involved a Toyota Hummer Bus with registration number  KSF 272 XM.

“The victims were rescued to Idera Hospital, Sagamu while the corpses of the victims killed  were deposited at the same Hospital’s Morgue. 

“The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed within construction area which led to lost of control.

“The third crash occurred at about 1750hrs on the Abeokuta- Sagamu Corridor around the Muhammadu Buhari Estate, Abeokuta which involved a MAZDA BUS  with registration number AAA 921 XT.

“A total of 18 persons were involved comprising 10 Male Adults and 08 Female Adults  . 

“A total of 13 persons sustained injuries but with no death recorded from the crash. 

“The suspected cause of the road crash was mechanical deficiency (broken properler) which led to loss of control.”
