How We Planned With Manager, Six Other Staff To Rob Bank - Robbery Suspects Confess

ABEOKUTA - A gang of notorious bank robbers have narrated how a Bank manager and six staff of a commercial bank in Ekiti state colluded with them to rob the bank.

The suspects, Mathew Olagoke, Ahmad Abdullahi, Johnson Ojo and Bamidele Adebanjo were arrested by IGP Special Tactical Squad at Ibadan.

Speaking with THE ENCOUNTER NEWS in an interview, a member of the robbery syndicate, Adebanjo Bamidele explained that, they had concluded plans with the bank manager (name withheld) and six other staff of the bank who have agreed to cooperate with them upon their arrival at the bank. 

Adebanjo who refused to disclose the name of the bank, said the manager had assured them of easy passage whenever they arrive the bank in Ekiti State. 

The suspect, a private soldier who served with Nigerian Army, Monguno barracks, 242 Armoured Brigade, Maiduguri was dismissed in the military for going AWOL. 

He further disclosed that, the gang which specializes in robbing banks, filling stations, and University hostels had recently robbed University of Ibadan, Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure hostels among others.

Parading the suspects at the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson said the suspects were tracked down following an intelligence received by men of IGP tactical squad.

Ebrimson noted that, the suspects phone conversation were monitored which aided the police team to swung into action and tracked them down to Ibadan, Oyo State where the robbers were intercepted and arrested.

Exhibits recovered from them included; three locally made short guns, twenty-one live cartridges and one expended, four bank ATM cards, seven mobile phones, three identity card and assorted dangerous charms.

Similarly, the SARS operatives attached to Ogun State Police Command penultimate week apprehended another six members of robbery syndicate terrorising Ijebu-Igbo area of the state. 

The suspects are; Tunji Ogunyemi, Olumide Adesanya, Dare Shoyemi, Dele Lawal, Taoreed Abeeb, and Wakil Musbau. 

CP Ebrimson who paraded the suspects highlighted the following exhibits recovered from the suspects as, One locally made gun, three live cartridges and One Toyota Camry car.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has vowed to deal decisively with anybody who chose to take crime as business, as the state will not be safe to orchestrate their evil acts.

He equally appealed to parents and guardians to warn their children against the use of fireworks during the yuletide season.
