Ogbomoso United Set For Division Two League, To Recruit 36 Players

IBADAN - A newly registered football club in the Nigerian Division Two League, Ogbomoso United is intensifying efforts to qualify for the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNL) from the division two of the Nigerian league next season.

The project manager, Akin Alade who spoke with THE ENCOUNTER NEWS on Wednesday said the club management has begun recruitment of about 36 players for the new season kicking off in January next year. 

Alade explained that, the establishment of the team was to create job employment for the teeming Ogbomoso youths and tap the unaccessed potentials among the over 5,000 registered grassroots clubs in the town. 

According to him, the formation of the team will comprise players majorly from Ogbomoso towns and Oyo state, while experienced players would also be sourced from other states.

He said as parts of efforts to sustain the viability of the club, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with an American Sports Agency that will expose the players to international trials across Europe. 

He maintained that, the team will serve as academy for its sister football club, Crown FC.

He added that, the home ground of Crown FC will be used for its home matches in the coming season until the completion of its permanent site.

He however stressed that, the team has shortlisted about six grade A licensed coaches to manage the team among whom are; former Green Eagles player and member of Saudi '89 team, Coach Oladunni Oyekale, MON, Waheed Bello, Tajudeen Raheem, Tunde Daniel Amusa Adisa and Coach Niyi Akande.
