ABEOKUTA - The Olu Owode of Owode-Egba in Obafemi/Owode local government of Ogun State, Oba Kolawole Aremu Sowemimo has called on management of Wema Bank Plc to establish branch of the bank within Owode-Egba community.

Oba Sowemimo made this appeal on Monday at the Award Nite of Conference of Ogun State Musicians (COSMUS) held at the Kuti Heritage Museum in Abeokuta.

The royal father lamented that, despite the busy business activities in the community by residents who are mostly farmers and merchants, there is no commercial bank to serve the people.

He therefore enjoined management of the old western region bank to consider establishing a branch in the town.

Reacting to the monarch's request, the Assistant Manager, Team lead, Wema Bank Plc, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, Mr. Akinyele Ogunpola who was one of award recipients assured the monarch that the management will consider his request.

Ogunpola said, though, there is no standard branch of Wema in the town, but said there is an banking agent of Wema within the town where the people can transact minimal amount.

He therefore assured that, in no distant future the bank would set up a full fledged branch in the town.

"We are aware for now, there's no commercial bank in Owode but we have banking agents around the round where the people can transact business, open an account, save money and make a withdrawal.

"Very soon, we will set up a full fledged commercial bank in that axis, but pending the time, they can still make use of our banking agents and their money will be save".
