Pilgrims Commend FG, OGSG On Hajj Fare Refund

ABEOKUTA - Pilgrims from Ogun state who performed the 2019 Holy Pilgrimage to Mecca have commended both federal and the state governments for the hajj fare refund.

The refund, according to beneficiaries, was as a result of unrendered services by the Saudi Arabian authority to the pilgrims during their stay in Mecca and made available through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has been described as a step in the right direction.

Speaking on behalf of the Pilgrims, Alhaji Sulaimon Ogunremi from Abeokuta North Local Government and Alhaja Rammat Adeniji from Odeda Local Government commended the concerned authorities after receiving the money, saying the refunds came at a good time, as it would take care of certain needs.

The duo appreciated the state government and Hajj officials for their welfare during the Hajj exercise, urging them to improve on their services, so as to encourage others to register with State.

Reacting, the Chairman, Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, (OGSMPWB), Imam Miftau Majekodunmi, expressed satisfaction towards the refund, which he also noted came unexpected.

"I am delighted to see that the government of Saudi Arabia has extended this gesture to Ogun State, I know the money can actually address some needs. I want to assure that the Board will not relent in its effort at carrying out its duty as expected’’.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdul-Hakeem Kalejaiye in his remark said the gesture was a welcome development from the Saudi Arabian Authority, adding that they should be commended for deeming it fit to make refund to pilgrims through NAHCON.
