ABEOKUTA - There seems to be no end to the controversy surrounding the sack saga of a commissioner-designate in Ogun state, Prof. Sidi Osho, as moves by the state government to quash the sack letter took a dizzying height on Monday morning.

News emerged last week when the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun sworn-in 18 commissioners excluding the controversial professor.

Sack letter of Prof. Osho from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye over alleged gross misconduct and unethical standard surfaced on the internet.

However, a closed source from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, said the state government had  pressurized the governing council to summon emergency governing council meeting for purpose of reversing  Prof. Osho's dismissal or convert it retirement.

This, it is hoped, will free both the state government and Prof.  Osho of the huge moral burden the appointment represents.

Though, the Council has not confirmed the purpose of the emergency council meeting, but the source hinted that, Prof. Osho had allegedly lobbied the  members to appeal her dismissal.

The source further said that she failed to appeal the sack letter four years, saying nothing could be done about it now without hurting the laid down procedure.

It was learnt the Council is not predisposed to such emergency meeting in respect of Osho's sack, so that a dangerous precedent is not created in the university.

Another source who is a member of the governing council hinted that, the professor was dismissed in 2016 for going on sabbatical leave at Afe Babalola University in 2010 without returning to the institution in 2016.

The anonymous added that another alleged sin committed by the Professor  was the N10million bakery project of OOU that collapsed under her watch and without explanation.

It was on the weight these alleged sins, the University after investigation and deliberation decided it could no longer keep Osho in its employment and thus relieved her of the job.

When THE ENCOUNTER NEWS contacted the Chief Press Secretary to the Ogun State Governor, Kunle Somorin on the rumoured emergency council meeting at the instance of the governor, but he declined comment as phone calls, text message and WhatsApp message sent to his mobile number were unreturned.
