You're Not Answerable To Any godfather, Abiodun Cautions Ogun Commissioners

ABEOKUTA - Ogun state governor,  Prince Dapo Abiodun today warned the newly sworn-in state commissioners against holding any allegiance to individuals or group of godfathers in the state. 

The state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the warning on Friday at the swearing-in  ceremony for the newly appointed commissioners in the state. 

The governor emphatically declared that the new commissioners must be accountable to the people of the state who are at the receiving end of their performance as none of the perceived godfathers was responsible for their emergence.

Abiodun said the new Commissioners should be good ambassadors of his administration values of fairness, equity and justice and remain connected to the people.

He therefore, urged them to be "steadfast, prudent, accountable" as well as efficiently integrate their visions into the programmes of his administration's "building our future together ".

"Congratulations, Honourable commissioners and Special Advisers in Ogun State on your appointment. Your appointment is a call to service through your dedication, strength and energy.

"Today, I want to challenge you with new leadership and the responsibility to improve the lives and tranformation who need you the most. This is the ideal that motivates our administration and why we have employed the service of professionals, experienced individual who shared the vision and passion and development of our dear State. 

" The appointment comes at a very important period of dear State. I must also say that, no individual or group of people is responsible for your emergence. You're therefore, not answerable to any individual or in the group of godfathers."

"You are only accountable to the people who must be at the central of your work at any point in time. You must remain connected with them and you must be worthy ambassadors of our administration's value of inclusiveness, fairness, equity and justice. 

"Your work ethics and commitment to service should exemplify in our administration's mantra which is putting peoples first and working together for the common good".

Meanwhile, the 19 commissioners and 16 Special Advisers were sworn-in by the governor. 

The Commissioners with the new portfolios are; 

Hon. Afolabi Afuape (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs), Hon Tunji Akinosi (Forestry), Prof. Sidi Osho (Education, Science and Technology ), Dr Adeola Odedina (Agriculture), Mr Olaolu Olabimtan (Budget and Planning) and Barr. Gbolahan Adeniran (Justice).

Others are; Dr Tomi Coker (Health), Barr. Femi Ogunbanwo (Special Duties), Tpl. Tunji Odunlami (Urban and Physical Planning), Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun (Environment), Mrs Kikelomo Longe (Commerce and Industry), Mr Dapo Okubadejo (Finance), Hon. Oludotun Taiwo (Rural Development), Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat (Community Development and Cooperatives), Mrs Funmi Efuwape (Women Affairs), Mr Kehinde Oluwadare (Youth and Sports) l,  Mr Jamiu Omoniyi (Housing), Mr Toyin Taiwo (Tourism) and Mr Ade Akinsanya (Works and Infrastructure).
