2020 Lisabi Festival Football Tourney Gets Underway In Ogun

ABEOKUTA - The draws for the 2020 Lisabi Festival Football tourney was held on Sunday at the Ake Palace ground in Abeokuta with 32 secondary schools from the six local governments in Egbaland grouped into eight groups for the male category. 

In the female category, 15 schools were ceded into four groups.

According to the Chairman, Main Organizing Committee, 2020 Lisabi Festival, Navy Capt. Rasheed Raji (rtd) noted that, the competition will hold between Tuesday, 4th to 26th February, 2020 among secondary schools in the six local governments of Egbaland. 

Raji enjoined all schools sports directors to ensure bonafide students are used as schools that fielded machinery players would be disqualified during the screening exercise. 

He explained that, the purpose of inculcating the game into the cultural festival was to promote school sports in Egbaland.

In the male category, St. Leo's College, Abeokuta were paired alongside Premier Grammar School, Salau Abiola Comprehensive High School and Owode High school in group A. 

In group B, Agunbiade High school were paired with St. Peter's College, TIA -Wasimi and Adesanolu High school, Mowe.

Group C has Egba Comprehensive High school, Ebenezer Grammar School, Adeoye Lambo Comprehensive High School and Ibafo Community High School. 

Group D: BBHS, Gateway Secondary school, Comprehensive High School, Wasimi and Coker Community High School, Ifo. 

Group E: Asero High School, NUD Grammar School, Obantoko, Owu Comprehensive High School, Elere and Iretiolu Model College.

Group F tagged as the dead zone, has Lisabi Grammar school,   Muslim High school, Isolu, Papalanto High school, and Pakoto High school. 

Group G: AFROGRAMS, Egba-Odeda High school, Egba Owode Grammar school, and Rex Age College. 

Group H has Olumo High school, Orile Ilugun Comprehensive High school, Ofada Community High school and Access Model College. 

According to the Organizing Committee, all matches are knock out, while the champions of each group would proceed to the quarter final stage.
