LISABI'S CUP: Gateway Secondary School Beats BBHS 3-1

ABEOKUTA - Gateway Secondary School of Abeokuta on Thursday defeated Baptist Boys High School of Abeokuta 3-1 in the group D match of the ongoing Lisabi's cup football competition.

In the highly entertaining match played at the Abeokuta Grammar School's model pitch, BBHS took the lead in the 25th minutes of the first half through a spot kick.

But the Gateway player's came back into the game in the five minutes of the second half through a straight shot from Jersey number 8, Moses Folorunsho.

The Gateway players continued to build on their momentum when they missed another scoring chances from a corner kick.

However, luck came their way in the 72nd minutes when the Gateway player scored their second goal of the game through a penalty kick.

A mild-drama however occurred when the BBHS coach instructed his players to walkout from the pitch as protest for the penalty awarded to the Gateway boys.

It took the intervention of the third Assistant Referee and the official from the state Ministry of Education to rescind their decision.

Meanwhile Gateway Secondary School added more salt to the injury of the Baptist Boys players when the Gateway players scored a brilliant volley shot to the right corner of the BBHS goal post.

In the other matches played on Thursday, Agunbiade High school triumphed over St. Peter's College, Olomore, while Egba Comprehensive High School defeated Ebenezer Grammar school 1-nil. 

In the female category, Muslim High school had a walkover on Temperance College, Ifo for failure to appear for the match.
