Ogun Council Boss Inaugurates Emergency Committee On COVID-19

ABEOKUTA - The Chairman, Transition Committee, Ifo Local Government, Hon, Fola Fatiu Salami has inaugurated  the Emergency Preparedness and Response Committee  recently in his office in curtailing the spread of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

Hon. Salami said the emergency committee was in response to the national call to every level of government and corporate organization, opinion leaders and other stakeholders to join hands in curtailing the pandemic already ravaging European, American, Asian countries as well as its discovery in some parts of Africa, particularly in Nigeria. 

The Council boss revealed that the constitution of the multi-sectoral Committee became a child of necessity given the pandemic nature of the virus and contiguity of areas where the virus was discovered in Ogun and Lagos states to the council area.

While charging the Committee to be more knowledgeable and informed on daily news and occurrences regarding the curses, symptoms, treatment and preventive measures necessary to mitigate the spread of the virus within the Council Area, he appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for espousing a 15-point mandate for the Committee through the State Ministry of Health, with awareness and sensitization campaign taking center stage, in order to achieve a common and uniformed aproach in combating the spread of the virus in every Local Government.

He further charged the Committee to develop a work plan capable of accommodating certain peculiarities of the Council Area.

Speaking earlier while presenting members of the Committe for the inauguration, the Head of Local Government Administration, Dr. Adebola Bamgbose expressed confidence in the crop of officers that make up the team as they are men and women who have proven their mettle on special and routine assignments given to them.

In her response on behalf of others, the Chief Nursing Officer in the Local Government, Mrs. Bankole, a member of the Committee, said that the inauguration of the Committee could not have come at a better time than this, promising that all members will take the onerous task with utmost commitment and dedication.
