ABEOKUTA - Nigeria's Ambassador to Spain, Her Excellency, Chief Susan Folarin has joined the growing league of well- meaning Nigerians contributing to the alleviation of the hardship currently experienced by Nigerians due to the stay-at-home order by the federal government.

The Ambassador who hails from Ward 5 Ilugun/Iberekodo of Abeokuta North LGA, distributed over 500 bags of 10kg rice grain across the 16 wards of the Local Government through her representatives.

While 320 bags of rice were effectively shared among the people of Abeokuta North through the ward and community leaders, other bags of the rice grain was shared to different other groups of old, vulnerable, pregnant and nursing mothers.

While speaking through one of her aides, Elder Funsho Bankole, Ambassador Folarin said she understands the tough socio-economic challenges the lockdown has caused people, stressing the need for Nigerians to obey government guidelines by washing their hands thoroughly with soap, using hand sanitizer and nose mask always.

According to her, the gesture was to alleviate the hardship occasioned by the extended lockdown which also coincides with the beginning of Ramadan.

While thanking her for the rare and uncommon gesture, representatives of wards and communities in Abeokuta North Local Government expressed heartfelt gratitude to her for deeming it fit to remember them from far away Spain.

While speaking during the presentation of the palliatives to Oke-Ona Community, the Chairman, Alhaji Takiu Soaga, thanked Mrs. Folarin for deeming it fit to extend her kind gesture to Oke Ona communities.

While receiving 80bags of rice palliative on behalf of Oke Ogun Community, a frontline community leader and immediate past LCDA chairman, Honourable Taoheed Salami was full of prayers, praises and admonition for Ambassador Folarin for choosing to support government and other donors in an effort to reduce the pressure on government.
