Lockdown: Oba Elerinmo Donates Relief Packages To Subjects

OSOGBO - A foremost Yoruba monarch, Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesa in Osun State, Oba Micheal Odunayo Ajayi (Arowotawaya II) has given out palliative  packages to the aged and most vulnerable persons in his community. 

The donation was part of the king's contribution to curb the economic hardship visited on the people due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown put in place by government as part of measures to curtail the spread of the dreaded disease.

According to a statement from the palace, the Special COVID-19 Relief food packages were given by the monarch in conjunction with AnneGift Foundation International.

The statement added that, hundreds of most vulnerable subjects of the traditional ruler got food items ranging from rice, beans, garri amongst other staple food provision.

The King was quoted as saying, "this outreach became necessary owing to the hardship visited on our people by the lockdown and the adverse economic effects of novel COVID-19 on the people's livelihood"

He futher added that," the palace and other well meaning groups will continue to partner in an effort to bring  relief to the less privileged."

Oba Odunayo Ajayi also used the occasion to advise people of his domain to adhere strictly to physical distancing, use of face mask and good hand hygiene.
