Lockdown: Protesters Storm Ake Palace, Complain Of Hunger - Watch Video

ABEOKUTA - Hungry protesters on Wednesday stormed the Ake Palace ground to express their grievances over the lockdown by the state government.

The protesters in their hundreds stormed the palace around 11am to complain of hunger which resulted from the stay-at-home order by the federal government.

The hungry protesters who are mostly women pleaded with the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo to provide foodstuff for the Egba people, saying the lockdown has prevented them from going to their various field of works. 

Addressing the mammoth crowd, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Gbadebo urged the protesters to remain calm and avoid stampede.

The monarch who frowned at the large gathering of the protesters for violating the social distance to curb the spread of the global deadly disease, coronavirus urged them to go home as the date for collection of the relief materials will be announced to them. 

He said as soon as the donors donate the foodstuff to the palace, a new date and venue for the collection of the palliative would be announced on radio.
