ABEOKUTA - The people of Ogun state have commended the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Moruf Afolabi Afuape for monitoring the strict distribution of the state government's relief packages to the masses.

The residents said the remarkable effort of the commissioner has helped the vulnerable in the state to have access to the relief materials.

Many of those who spoke with THE ENCOUNTER NEWS noted that the objectives of the relief materials would have been forfeited if not for the discipline and strict monitoring of the commissioner and his team.

A resident of Ajaka street, in Makun, Sagamu, Ibrahim Oladimeji added that, in times past, such laudable gesture by the state government would have been diverted into private coffers of the politicians.

Ibrahim however lauded the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for entrusting such tasking assignment in the commissioner.

According to Mrs. Ibironke Balikis of di-Aba, in Abeokuta, Afuape has lived up to their expectations by ensuring smooth distribution of the state government relief package to the remote areas of the state.

Other respondents urged the governor to appoint credible and efficient personalities in subsequent political appointments.

"We are happy that the state government is giving out food stuff to the people of the state, but we want to sincerely appreciate the commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Afolabi Afuape.

"The Commissioner had displayed competency by ensuring that the council chairmen did not divert the relief materials to unknown destination.

"Government is trying its best, but some politicians are trying to play politics with the food stuff, but we heard the commissioner had warned many of them not to undermine the effort of the state government.

"Governor Dapo Abiodun has done well, we just hope the second batch of the distribution get other communities who have not benefited from the relief materials."
