Chief Of Army Staff Buratai Commends Ogun Govt's Measures In Tackling COVID-19

ABEOKUTA - Nigeria's Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai has commended Ogun state government efforts in flatten the curve of COVID-19 in the state. 

Buratai gave the commendation on Tuesday while donating Personal Protective Equipment to the state government.

The Chief of Army Staff who was represented by General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division, Nigerian Army in-charge of Lagos/Ogun, Major-General Joseph Irefin said the donation of the PPE was in solidarity and support to the state for its effort in curtailing the spread of the global deadly disease, Coronavirus. 

He noted that, all items donated are locally produced by the defense operation factory. 

Receiving the Army delegates, the state Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the donation of Personal Protective Equipment to the state government. 

The Deputy-Governor who also expressed satisfaction in the locally produced items, noted that the pandemic has forced Nigeria to harness her manpower in producing needed materials. 

She however assured that the government would distribute the PPEs to all the isolation centres as well use them judiciously. 

Her words: "We do appreciate your support and to the Ogun State government in providing the necessary items. I am particularly glad that these items are locally produced in your defense. "

"One of the positives of the pandemic is that it has forced us to look inward and make use of our locally made equipment in combating the pandemic," she stressed. 

She added "The equipments will be given to the health practitioners and we will distribute it to all our isolation centres for judicious use".

Some of the donated items include, hand sanitizers, face masks, Personal Protective Suit, buckets, etc.
