Children's Day: Be Good Ambassadors, Ogun Council Boss Charges Young Generation

Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji
ABEOKUTA - Chairman, Transition Committee Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide has charged children to be good ambassadors of the state for them to be great in life.

Shomide stated this while felicitating with children on the celebration of this year children's day.

The council boss charged them to be humble and diligent in their studies/doings and be good Ambassadors to the societies.

He explained that Children's Day celebration was established and adopted by United Nation General (UN) in 1954 and was celebrated on 27th May each year to promote International togetherness, awareness among children world-wide and to improve the welfares of the children in the Nations.

He therefore counseled the children in the local government areas to shun all elements of social vices that will tarnish and soil their lineage names for they are the future of tomorrow.

He, however, charged mothers, fathers, teachers, civil society, activists, religions and community leaders, corporate organisation and media practitioners, as well as young people and children themselves to play an important part in making World Children's Day relevant in their societies, communities and Nigeria as a whole.

He urged them to always stay safe and hygienic at this trying period of COVID-19 pandemic.
