Edo: PDP Governors Urge INEC, Security Agencies To Ensure Fair Poll


ABUJA - The Peoples Democratic Party, Governors’ Forum has enjoined the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to ensure that the September 19 Edo State governorship election is free, fair and credible.

This was contained in a statement congratulating the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday. 

The statement was signed by the Director General of the Forum, CID Maduabum.

The PDP Governors’ Forum is the umbrella body for governors elected on the platform of the PDP chaired by the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.

It said , “We admonish all organs of state such as the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission , to ensure a free and fair election in Edo state in September.

“We urge Nigerians and the civil society to be vigilant to ensure that all votes are counted and that all votes count in Edo State in September .”

Meanwhile , the Governor of Bayelsa State , Mr Douye Diri , has implored the national leadership of the PDP to work hard for the re-election bid of Obaseki.

Diri made the call in a statement on Friday while congratulating Obaseki on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the PDP.
