Ogun Governor Toasts Yewa/Awori Traditional Rulers With Road Construction


ABEOKUTA - Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state has assured traditional rulers in Ogun West zone of the state that the approved roads for construction by the royal fathers would be considered for construction. 

Governor while meeting with the traditional rulers in Ogun west led by the Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewa, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle at his Palace on Thursday in Ilaro said priority would be given to the dilapidated roads in the region to improve its socio-economic.

He mandated Commissioners for Works and Infrastructure and his Transport counterpart to deliberate with the people of Ogun West and look at the list of roads that had been presented for the axis, noting that whatever list comes out of the meeting would be considered as a priority for the people of the Senatorial district.

He informed that the submission of report by the committee on the review of projects, has helped the state government to identify the grey areas and started work to enable contractors return to site on the roads, insisting that work will resume on them to enable its citizenry reap the benefits of this Government and have improved lifestyle. 

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele said that the meeting was aimed at getting factual statistics and the expectations of the people of Ogun west, in the area of infrastructural development, particularly roads in order to address them and deliver on such.

He added that in doing this, the state government will also be looking into the peculiarities of each area in the provision of these roads, with a view to ensure that what is provided suited the various vehicular traffic demands placed on them.

“ What we have done is to consider the different specifications of roads for different areas, we are looking at the construction of concrete roads where necessary because of the heavy industrial vehicles that ply such axis, so that in areas we know we are going to have heavy vehicles the road design suits such demands” he said.

Responding on behalf of Traditional rulers , Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewland, HRM Oba Kehinde Olugbenle appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for being responsive, this he said showed he was indeed royalty and cared about the overall welfare of the good people of Ogun State. 


He indicated that it is the first time since he has ascended the throne that a town hall meeting of that nature will hold and a sitting Governor will immediately swing into action to get a firsthand feel of where the shoe pinches saying he was indeed very impressed.
