ABUJA - The National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Prof. Dickson Akoh has embarked on data capturing and revalidation of officers of the Corps across the country.

Prof. Akoh stated this on Friday while speaking with journalists in Abuja shortly after engaging in a strategic meeting with top officers of the security outfit.

The National Commandant who regretted the closure of the national headquarters for three years, said the covid-19 pandemic has negative impact on the organization.

He noted that, the current ID card which is a paper work would expire in July, 2021 after its three years validation and would be renewed with a plastic ID card with lots of security features.

He therefore called on high and file ranking officers of the Corps across the country to submit themselves to the ongoing data capturing and revalidation of their identity in their respective state command.

"The covid-19 pandemic and the closure of the National headquarters for good three years, February 28, 2017 to February 28, 2020 had negative impact on the organization and it was very mysterious.

"For us as a law abiding organization, whatever anybody does without ID cards will have direct bearing on the organization and my humble self, that is why we need to capture the data of our officers across the country.

"Peace Corps of Nigeria ID card is renewed every three years and the ID cards that is currently in circulation will expire in July 2021. Its in due of this development that the Peace Corps Council took the decision that the ID card in circulation is a paper ID card which is to be migrated to Plastic ID card with a lot of security features.

"I therefore, urge all officers of Peace corps of Nigeria to go to their various state command for revalidation," Prof. Akoh averred.
