Ogun: NANS Calls For Renaming Of TASCE

ABEOKUTA - The South West Zone of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone D, has called on Ogun State Government and State House of Assembly to rename the Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE).

The South West Coordinator of NANS, Comrade Adegboye Olatunji made the call on Monday when he paid a working visit to the management of the institution in Omu-Ijebu.

Olatunji noted that, the institution had witnessed massive transformation under Dr. Lukmon Kiadese's led management.

"In a brief meeting between the Zone D leadership, TASCE Students Union and the institution’s management, the Provost; Dr. Lukmon Kiadese unveiled various laudable programmes his management have completed and those to be embarked on imminently.

In addition, the TASCE Students Union also affirms the optimal support they enjoy from the management.

"In light of our experience while touring the school, feedbacks from the Students populace and the Union, we hereby pass a vote of confidence on Dr. Lukmon Kiadese, the Provost of Tai-Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu. We are convinced in his intellectual acumen, financial prudence and management epertise which will further take TASCE to higher heights.

"In addition, we appreciate the Ogun state government for prioritizing Education and providing continuous financial and moral intervention for schools in Ogun State and most especially in TASCE.

"We, however, call for quick implementation of the proposed change of name of the institution. It is pertinent to note that the reasons cited for the name change are valid and crucial. We urge the Ogun State House of Assembly and the Governor of Ogun State to jointly ensure that it is fully implemented.

"Other higher institutions across South Western Nigeria should be expecting the train of NANS South West as we shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that we justify the mandate given to us by the Nigerian Students in the entire Southwestern region."
