MAPOLY: Bear with us, we are working tirelessly to meet your demands, management begs aggrieved unions

ABEOKUTA - The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta has pleaded with staff and workers of the Polytechnic to exercise patience and give the management time to solve the challenges confronting the institution.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Oluyemi Ajibola made the plea on Thursday following the recent attack on the management and state government by industrial unions of the Polytechnic.

THE ENCOUNTER NEWS report that Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, and Non-Academic Staff Union of the institution had during the week attacked the Polytechnic management for its inability to pay their November and December salaries.

The unions also berated the state government for its refusal to appoint a substantive rector and composition of Governing Council for over two years.

They also lamented the non-remittance of their cooperative deductions and non-payment of union check-off dues.

But speaking on a telephone interview with our reporter, the PRO explained that, the management is working relentlessly to meet up with the demands of the workers.

Ajibola noted that the management is consulting and working round the clock to ensure staff can be happy at least at this particular time

"We have been talking to Ogun State Government to help us and I hope something positive will come out of it. The government has been giving us attention and I believe we shall rejoice soon. They should please exercise patience with us.

"We have also been talking to JAMB to increase our carrying capacity quota for admission and I'm happy to inform you that, it has been approved by JAMB. The management has tried to by ensuring smooth running of the Polytechnic. The way we operate is transparent to the entire staff and the unions especially. They all have access to the account. Nobody has used their money for partying. They know what comes in and what goes out."
