ABEOKUTA - Worried by the increased rate of gender-based violence and Child abuse in the country, the President of Victory Women International, Reverend Fola Achudume has urged the government not to treat the scourge with kid gloves.

Mrs. Achudume stressed that many lives especially, innocent children have been destroyed and promising future unattainable because of the menace.

She spoke at the end of the four-day 2021 Victory Women International Convention with the theme "Configured to Win" in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Mrs. Achudume insisted that domestic abuse, sexual molestation, rape, and other social vices are on the increase in society because the authorities concerned and other relevant stakeholders were not channeling the needed energy to correct the anomaly.

According to her, there is an urgent need for women as homemakers to be on top of their parenting responsibilities, adding that people irrespective of gender should speak with one voice towards ending every form of abuse against women and children.

Mrs. Achudume affirmed that the time has come for the womenfolk to contribute meaningfully to national growth, saying that women no longer stand aloof in the scheme of things "as most women professionals are handling tasks like their male counterparts in many establishments".

In his sermon, the Setman, Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle Lawrence Achudume revealed that nations, regions, cities, communities, as well as human beings, are often controlled spiritually.

The Clergyman who preached on " Open Heaven", disclosed that Africa is playing second fiddle Internationally because most African leaders are operating under a closed heaven.

According to him, Africa is blessed with both natural and human resources, describing the "Impact convention 2021" as the best since the inception of Victory Life Bible Church 30 years ago.

He charged women to be good role models for their children, opining that women irrespective of socio-economic backgrounds are important in society and should not be relegated to the backgrounds or made to experience any form of physical and psychological trauma.

The Cleric urged Christians to shun gossips and rumors while emphasizing the importance of prayers as solutions to challenges facing the Nation

Apostle Achudume added that God's word must be taken seriously not minding the consequences associated with such step.

The convention witnessed ministrations from different Preachers across the country.
