We'll Return MAPOLY To Path Of Growth, Ag. Rector Assures

Dr. Odedeji

ABEOKUTA - The Acting Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji has vowed to put the polytechnic on enviable pedestal and model for other higher learning institutions in the country.

The Acting Rector gave this assurance on Monday at the 2022 Art exhibition to commemorate the International Day of Colour celebration organized by the institution's Department of Art and Industrial Design in conjunction with National Gallery of Art.

Dr. Odedeji while emphasizing the importance of the celebration, said the Art department was fashioned together in tandem with the policy of the Polytechnic which is giving skilled and vocational education.

He said the essence was to ensure that graduates from the department become employers of labour through art design and painting.

"Art and Industrial Design consist of 3 keywords, Art, Industrial, and Design. These words are fashioned together in tandem with the Polytechnic policy which is giving art on education. Education that is vocational and skilled in nature.

"The essence is to ensure that the graduates should be able to stand on their own."

The Ag. Rector, therefore, expressed optimism that the new 17 programmes put forward to National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for resource inspection would be approved.

He however sought the support of the state government to improve all practical studios and workshops of the institution.

Speaking on the theme of International Day of Colour celebration, "Diversity", the Director-General, National Gallery of Art, Chief Ebeten William Ivara who was represented by Ngozi Okonkwo said colour is an essential element of art.

The DG noted that, colour means different things to people of different professions, such as physiologists, chemists, physicists, psychologists, and artists which according to him, remains a powerful communication tool to signal action, influence mood, and even influence physiological reactions.
