APC Primaries: Unlike Gov. Abiodun, I'll Tackle Insecurity Headlong, Akinlade Canvasses APC Delegates

Hon. Akinlade

ABEOKUTA - Ahead of the May 26th governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, a frontline governorship aspirant in the party, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade has assured the party delegates that his administration will tackle the ceaseless security threats in the state if emerged as the party's flag bearer.

Akinlade disclosed this on Tuesday while officially declaring his 2023 gubernatorial ambition held in Abeokuta.

Akinlade who was the 2019 governorship candidate of Allied People's Movement (APM) in the state, in his six-point manifesto tagged "Audacity to Reset Ogun State For Greater Height" said his administration will take safety of lives and property a priority without trampling on the rights and privileges of the people.

The former House of Representatives member maintained that no society can develop in an environment where chaos, banditry, and criminality of all shades take centre stage.

According to him, if given the party's  mandate and eventually emerged as the winner of the governorship election, his administration shall constitute a security architecture that will comprise all existing security entities in the state with a mandate to flush out all criminal elements.

He added that, the security outfits shall be fully funded from the existing Security Trust Fund which shall be reimbursed monthly with a percentage of the state IGR subject to the approval of the State House of Assembly.

Akinlade who highlighted his other manifestos to include Agriculture, Human Capital Development, Strategic Internally Generated Revenue, Education, Healthcare, Social Justice, and Urban renewal blamed the inability of relevant government agencies to differentiate between income and revenue to the stagnated N10billion monthly revenue generation by the state.

Skin made cheering the his supporters at the declaration on Tuesday

He said, “My dear compatriots, I stand before you today, with all sense of humility and honour to seek your support and prayers as I formally declare my intention to contest the 2023 Ogun State governorship election on the platform of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Thank you all for believing that this is possible, and for believing in the vision that Ogun State needs a new Sheriff to steer its affairs and destiny now.

"As key stakeholders in the Ogun State project, I will not bore you with what could have been rather I will crave your indulgence to outline what I will do differently if given the opportunity to serve you as the 6th Executive Governor of this great State come May 29th, 2023. My vision for our dear State is hinged on the domestication of all human and infrastructural development because I believe that only prosperous people can truly appreciate and preserve the investments across our communities.

“As we prepare to elect the next flag bearer of our party on Thursday the 26th of May 2022, I call on all delegates and party faithful regardless of the faction you belong to, to be mindful of who you cast your vote for, because this singular process, will determine who leads and governs our dear State for the next four years.

“No matter what form or mode of primary the party adopts, the power to decide resides entirely in your hands as well as the destiny of millions of our people," Akinlade stated.
